Christmas Day
Christmas time is here. I hope you have a wonderful New Year. May every day hold happy hours for you.
Smelt
High silicon ferrosilicon is smelted in a reducing electric furnace with a carbon lining, using silica, steel filings (or iron scales), and coke as raw materials. Electric furnace ferrosilicon smelting is a slag free method, and the raw materials must be clean and free of mud, sand, and other impurities. Adding wood chips and coal to the furnace material can improve its performance. During the smelting process, the surface of the material is prone to crust and "stinging" (surface spraying), and it is necessary to frequently "pound the furnace". The furnace produces silicon iron every 2-4 hours and molds it into ingots with a thickness of less than 100 millimeters. The smelting of ferrosilicon generally adopts an open electric furnace. In recent years, in order to prevent environmental pollution, "low hood" or "semi enclosed" electric furnaces have been commonly used, which are convenient for recovering heat energy and eliminating smoke and dust; The production of high silicon ferrosilicon (containing over 75% silicon) is mostly carried out using a rotary electric furnace to reduce furnace vibration.
Purpose
1. Used as an inoculant and spheroidizer in the cast iron industry. Cast iron is an important metal material in modern industry. It is cheaper than steel, easier to melt and smelt, and has excellent casting performance and much better seismic resistance than steel. Especially ductile iron, its mechanical properties reach or approach those of steel. Adding a certain amount of ferrosilicon to cast iron can prevent the formation of carbides in iron, promote the precipitation and spheroidization of graphite. Therefore, in the production of ductile iron, ferrosilicon is an important inoculant (helping to precipitate graphite) and spheroidizing agent.
2. Ferrosilicon is widely used in the steel industry, casting industry, and other industrial production. Ferrosilicon is an essential deoxidizer in the steelmaking industry. In steelmaking, ferrosilicon is used for precipitation deoxygenation and diffusion deoxygenation. Brick cast iron is also used as an alloying agent in steelmaking. Adding a certain amount of silicon to steel can significantly improve its strength, hardness, and elasticity, increase its magnetic permeability, and reduce the hysteresis loss of transformer steel. Low aluminum ferrosilicon is a special type of ferrosilicon that has emerged in recent years. Its smelting process is complex and the added value of the product is high, which is an area actively explored by various ferrosilicon manufacturers.
