The main uses of polysilicon

polysilicon is a form of elemental silicon. When molten elemental silicon solidifies under supercooling conditions, silicon atoms are arranged in the form of diamond lattices to form many crystal nuclei. If these crystal nuclei grow into grains with different crystal plane orientations, these grains will combine and crystallize into polysilicon.

The main use of polysilicon is to make single crystal silicon and solar photovoltaic cells.

Polysilicon is the most important and basic functional material in the semiconductor industry, electronic information industry, and solar photovoltaic cell industry. It is mainly used as a raw material for semiconductors and is the main raw material for making single crystal silicon. It can be used to make various transistors, rectifier diodes, thyristors, solar cells, integrated circuits, electronic computer chips, and infrared detectors.
